Author’s Biography

Homer L. Hartage

Homer Hartage has a real passion for guardianship. His second love is the Hartage family history which is particularly important to Homer and his family.

He is the great-great-grandson of Webster Joshua Hartage, a slave freed by Emancipation Proclamation at the age of nine years. Webster’s oldest son, George Washington Hartage became an AME pastor and was Homer’s great-grandfather. This sense of place and Christian heritage provided a broad platform for a career in the guardianship of others.

Strong Christian values, a love for family, a belief in the value of service to others, and the importance of good education remain Homer Hartage’s guiding principles today.

In 1998, Homer was elected for the Orange County Board of Commissioners in Orlando, Florida. His work improving the lives of people in underserved communities earned him two Congressional Citations for Outstanding Community Service.

In 2007, he founded The Hartage Foundation Inc., a non-profit charitable family foundation. In 2014, Homer founded AgedCare from the guest bedroom of his Orlando, Florida home. Seven years later, AgedCare was one of the most influential Professional Guardianship companies in Florida.

Homer Hartage is a graduate of Seton Hall University, a BA in Psychology, a Professional Guardian, a proud husband and father.

“In the minds of us all as we age and ponder a future time when we too may need a caring hand.  Should you have to make the difficult decision for yourself, a loved one or a friend because they have been judged to lack the capacity or unable to manage their own affairs due to mental or physical incapacity that could be the moment you consider a guardian.” Gordon H.
