Homer L. Hartage

President and Professional Guardian

….

I was born in Webster County Georgia, where my family had a small family farm. At an early age, our mother moved the family to Leesburg, Florida, where I was raised by a single mother. The care that I was given had a lasting impression and instilled in me a desire to care for others as well. After college I moved my family to Orlando, Florida.

I am a Professional Guardian and have a BA degree in Psychology from Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey. A long history of community and family service prepared me for a career as a Professional Guardian. This included ten years caring for a live-in family member with Alzheimer Disease. I understand what families go through when someone they love is ill with this dreadful disease.

I am a Professional Guardian of more than sixty Wards as well as a Veteran Fiduciary and Representative Payee. I am a member of the National Guardianship Association, the Florida Health Care Association and certified with the Florida Office of Professional Guardians.

My community service includes being elected to the Orange County Commissioner in 1998, where I served eight years. During this time, I was able to improve services for medically needy families and had a Parent Abuse bill passed by the Florida Legislature to help protect adult parents from physical abuse by their minor children. I entered professions guardianship after a life-long history of public service. Every day I live the AgedCare mission; to serve and make a difference in the lives of persons in need.

Business Operations Director

I was born in Savannah, GA but I call Florida my home. I was raised by a military family and have lived in Georgia, Florida, Arizona, and Panama South America. These experiences taught me to be comfortable in many different situations when caring for others.

I have a 12-year background working in the medical field. This includes assisting in the management of a medical office where I handled complex cases dealing with persons with mental health and/or addiction issues. I joined AgedCare professional guardians to expand upon this experience. At AgedCare, I manage all essential daily operations. My passion to help people is the driving force of my life today.

Shirley Simmons

Marketing Director

….

Growing up, Shirley’s drive and ambition often resulted in feeling like the girl who never “fit in”. She realized early on that pursuing a future equal to the energy bound up in her bones would require her to leave her hometown of Kissimmee, Florida, leaving it in her past. That energy would bring her to Windermere, Florida, where she learned to embrace life completely.

Success came easily and quickly. She earned a B.A. in Sociology, married and started a family of her own, and then spent twenty years as a Family Counselor and Program Director for Family Self-Sufficiency, providing services to thousands throughout Central Florida and Polk County, Florida.

I was born in Upstate New York, and during my childhood, my family frequently ventured into Canada, exploring various cities such as Ontario, Toronto, Quebec, and, of course, the magnificent Niagara Falls. It was during these adventures that I developed a profound love for the outdoors and an appreciation for the diverse cultures and people I encountered.

With over 20 years of experience in business administration across diverse industries from medical to tech. I’ve had the privilege of working in various roles. For more than seven years, I served as an ER secretary in a bustling emergency room with forty beds, assisting over twenty providers and nurses simultaneously.

Jennifer Cardinal

Case Manager, Professional Guardian

….

I was born in the Orlando area, but my formative years were spent in the mountains of West Virginia. During high school, my family relocated back to Orlando, and I graduated from Lake Howell High School in Winter Park. Later, I earned a degree in Business Administration from the University of Central Florida (Go Knights!).

My entrepreneurial spirit ignited early—I started my first job delivering newspapers at the age of nine. Over time, I owned and managed two businesses and co-founded a nonprofit organization. In 2001, I married my best friend, and together we became foster parents.

Testimonials

“Engulfed with despair, fear, anxiety, restless nights, and overwhelming sense of helplessness. Those feelings crippled me daily, not knowing what next steps to take, I felt like I was on a deserted island, not wanting to fail my loved one. Thankfully a family member put me in touch with Mr. Homer Hartage. All those negative feelings dissipated after having just one conversation.

Mr. Hartage gave a detailed explanation of my options, which allowed me to make informed decisions about the best options for my family. Again, thank you so much Mr. Hartage for picking up the phone to answer my questions and putting my mind at ease, thank you for sharing your wisdom and knowledge.

Finally, thank you, sir, for your kindness. During the most stressful times in my life, you answered my call for help. May God shower you and your family with continuous blessings.”

Testimonials

“Honestly, if you work in healthcare and have a resident who needs a guardian I have the most amazing person, Homer Hartage. Never, EVER have I seen such love and devotion to a client in my life .… it takes a lot to impress me because I have such high standards .… my mind is blown. Please let him know if you should have a need for a guardian. Your client/resident truly could not be in better hands. He’s simply amazing.

So refreshing to see a guardian treat their client like a loved one instead of a pay check or commodity …. I’ve never seen anything like it in my life… and I’ve been doing this a minute.”

“In the minds of us all as we age and ponder a future time when we too may need a caring hand.  Should you have to make the difficult decision for yourself, a loved one or a friend because they have been judged to lack the capacity or unable to manage their own affairs due to mental or physical incapacity that could be the moment you consider a guardian.” Gordon H.
